With warmer Spring weather coming, rattlesnakes will begin emerging from hibernation over the next several weeks. Rattlesnakes are the only venomous snakes in Colorado and familiarizing yourself with their habitat and behavior is the best way to avoid a bite.
Over HALF of the people bitten by snakes were bitten trying to handle, move, or kill the snake. If you encounter a rattlesnake: freeze, slowly and calmly move away from the snake.
